Speaker: Diego Torricelli, BioRobotics Group, Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR), Spanish National Research Council (CSIC); Where: Hybrid: Room 1404 UCI BioSci 3, and IMSI Zoom channel (pinned to #general in Slack)
Speaker Bio: Diego Torricelli received the MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering and the PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Roma TRE, Italy, in 2004 and 2009 respectively. He developed his Master’s thesis at Harvard Medical School (Boston) on the optimization of motion capture systems. Since 2010, he is with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Madrid, Spain. He recently co-founded the BioRobotics group at the Centre of Automation and Robotics (CAR). His research interests are the understanding and assessment of human motor control, and the design of technology-based strategies for neural rehabilitation. He has coordinated several European projects and is member of the ISO Technical Committee on Robotics (TC299/WG4). He organized several scientific activities, such as the Summer School on Neurorehabilitation (SSNR), the International Conference on Neurorehabilitation (ICNR), the International Workshop on Wearable Robots (WeRob), as well as many other workshops in the fields of biorobotics, muscle synergies and benchmarking. He is co-author of more than 100 publications in peer reviewed journals and conferences. He has collaborated as Associate Professor and Lecturer in different Spanish universities (Carlos III de Madrid, San Pablo CEU, Autonoma de Madrid).
