Are you a STEM student curious about storytelling, media, or public engagement? Or a communications student passionate about making complex ideas accessible? The Integrative Movement Sciences Institute (IMSI) invites applications for a Science Communication Fellowship—a hands-on opportunity at the intersection of cutting-edge science and creative media.
IMSI is a major multi-university research collaboration advancing biomechanics and human movement science. We’re looking for a curious, motivated, and creative student that is excited to learn about science communication while sharing complex ideas with the public through digital and social media.

Science Communication Fellowship Overview:
As an IMSI science communication fellow, you will train under the mentorship of Dr. Christian Hubicki, IMSI Director of Outreach. You’ll collaborate directly with student and faculty researchers to explore how science happens and how to communicate it. You’ll receive mentorship in both movement sciences and science communication/digital media production, while building a portfolio of public-facing content such as researcher profiles, short videos, explainer posts, or behind-the-scenes lab stories.
Responsibilities include: Video editing, Video production, Web content production, Interviewing, Storytelling
- Produce digital content highlighting scientific advancements and growth. Content includes: (1) YouTube video shorts, (2) social media posts, (3) website copy, (4) other online content
- Coordinate and communicate with senior institute faculty to pitch stories and obtain approval.
- Interview student, postdoctoral, and faculty scientists about their work.
Duration: September 1st – December 18th, 2026 (negotiable)
Time Commitment: 20 hours per week (negotiable)
Location: As scientific teams are based around the United States, the communications fellow role will be a remote position. Depending on your location, you may have the opportunity to participate in in-person activities.
Funding: $300/week for the fellowship duration for fellows participating at 20 hours per week, pro-rated for part-time participation.
