The Integrative Movement Sciences Institute (IMSI) is now accepting applications for its Winter 2026 Science Communication Fellowship, a hands-on experience at the crossroads of research and creativity. We’re seeking a motivated, imaginative trainee eager to explore how scientific discoveries can reach and resonate with diverse audiences. Science Communication Fellowship Overview:

As an IMSI science communications fellow, you will train under the mentorship of Dr. Christian Hubicki, IMSI Director of Outreach. You’ll collaborate directly with student and faculty researchers to explore how science happens and how to communicate it. You’ll receive mentorship in both movement sciences and science communication/digital media production, while building a portfolio of public-facing content such as researcher profiles, short videos, explainer posts, or behind-the-scenes lab stories. Responsibilities include:

  • Produce digital content highlighting scientific advancements and growth. Content includes: (1) YouTube video shorts, (2) social media posts, (3) website copy, (4) other online content
  • Coordinate and communicate with senior institute faculty to pitch stories and obtain approval.
  • Interview student, postdoctoral, and faculty scientists about their work.

Tasks: Video editing, Video production, Web content production, Interviewing, Storytelling

Timing: January 12 – May 1, 2026

Location: As scientific teams are based around the United States, the communications fellow role will be a remote position. Depending on your location, you may have the opportunity to participate in in-person activities.

Funding:  $600/week for the fellowship duration for trainees participating full-time (40 hours/week). Part-time participation is welcome, and stipends for part-time participation will be pro-rated according to time spent.
